Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile backers when she starts her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is related to Donald Trump, obtained a special exemption to compete at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, an avid golfer, possesses several courses worldwide and frequently competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
Kai explained that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Simply don't get nervous."
"He basically told me to play and have fun," she explained.
"In my eyes, he's simply an ordinary family member. He can't make it this weekend. He's busy with world affairs, so he's rather occupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has participated in only three events in 2024 and maintains ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
But she's able to receive tips from golf legend, who is dating Vanessa.
"He stands as the best player worldwide," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's an even better person. He advised me to play, relax, adapting to whatever happens."
The golfer will compete against some of top competitors in the sport at this tournament, featuring second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.
Tournament organizers mentioned that involving Kai exposes the sport to wider groups, especially reaching younger fans.
The social media influencer boasts millions of followers and has started an exclusive clothing and lifestyle brand.
She begins at 5:30 PM GMT.
