In the wake of a pivotal victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has significantly narrowed the deficit in the driver's standings. He now finds himself just 12 points behind leader McLaren's Lando Norris and leading teammate Oscar Piastri, the stage is set for a nail-biting three-way season finale at the renowned Yas Marina Circuit.

The shift began with substantial technical upgrades introduced by Red Bull at the Monza. Modifications to the vehicle's underbody and aerodynamic package finally addressed ongoing handling problems, allowing Verstappen to push to the limit with the car once more.

Since that point, his form has been utterly dominant, securing a quintet of triumphs and multiple podiums. He was eager to highlight the collective effort behind this comeback.

"We have achieved victories where maybe the odds were against us, by executing the correct decision as a team," he explained. "My collaboration with my race engineer and the entire crew... we are deeply connected."

Ahead of the head to Abu Dhabi, the championship picture is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader can secure his debut world title if he finishes ahead of both his two rivals or takes a place on the rostrum.
• The challenger has to take the checkered flag first and requires that Norris is not in the top three.
• The third contender, trailing by 16 points, needs a victory and witness his teammate end up no higher than sixth.

The intensity falls squarely on McLaren, who have seen a sizable lead evaporate due to unfortunate events, including a double disqualification in Las Vegas.
