Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
